Archive: Choosing Leadership

This course is led by Linda Ginzel, Clinical Professor of Managerial Psychology at Chicago Booth, and is designed to help participants develop their leadership capital: the courage, capacity, and wisdom to decide when to manage and when to lead. We will meet over Zoom on Tuesday mornings in November 2021. Professor Ginzel will be joined by Harry L. Davis, Roger L. and Rachel M. Goetz Distinguished Service Professor of Creative Management at Chicago Booth.

The registration fee for this course is $50. This includes:

  • A copy of Professor Ginzel's book, Choosing Leadership
  • Access to the course Canvas site with materials, recordings, and assignments
  • Certificate of completion signed by the faculty (for participants who complete all assignments)

A mini course is an abridged version of a regular course, made accessible to our community of busy scholars and professionals. Preparation should take less than an hour per week.

Class meets from 8AM to 9AM CT on November 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 via a Zoom link that will be shared with registrants. Recordings will be posted within 24 hours of class, so it will be easy to catch up if you miss a session. We would love to see as many participants live as possible, but you are welcome to do the entire class asynchronously if that works better for you.

The assignments are readings and written reflections. All participants will have access to a course Canvas site (the software UChicago uses for many classes).

Absolutely! We will prioritize enrollments from members of the UChicago community, but we invite everyone to participate as capacity allows.

The mini-course is not-for-credit; there are no grades. We are offering a certificate of completion to all registered participants who complete and submit all assignments.

No. Because Choosing Leadership was written as a workbook, we require each registrant to have a blank, physical copy of the book to write in as the course progresses. The best way for us to ensure this is to include a copy with the registration fee. We encourage you to share any extra copies you have with a friend!
