Coronavirus Updates

To the Members of the Stigler Center Community:

We are living in an unprecedented and difficult time. My first thoughts are with all those who are affected across the world. I would also like to express my gratitude to the healthcare workers who are on the front lines, both in the US and abroad. Thank you.

At this trying time, there is an especially high demand for reliable and trustworthy information. To address this demand by Booth students, alumni, faculty and the greater community, the Stigler Center has developed the following special initiatives:

  • We are releasing weekly episodes of our podcast, Capitalisn’t – hosted by myself and Kate Waldock – focused on coronavirus and its economic implications. The latest episode, for example, is on the $2 trillion-dollar stimulus bill approved by Congress.
  • We added a coronavirus section and a covid economics section to our online publication, ProMarket. This includes coverage of the global economic and political implications of COVID-19.
  • We have developed the Political Economy of COVID-19 Series of online programming, specifically targeted to MBA students, to explore the implications of COVID-19 with leading academics and experts. Featured speakers include Angus Deaton, Stacy Mitchell, Matt Stoller, Wendell Potter, and more. You can join our events live on Zoom or afterward via our YouTube channel
  • We are assembling teaching materials based on all this relevant content that can be used as a resource to address these important topics.

Please continue to stay safe and engaged, and thank you for your continued support and interest in the Stigler Center.

Sincerely,

Luigi Zingales
