Senior Associate Director/Senior Editor

The Stigler Center is looking for a Senior Associate Director/Senior Editor to manage media coverage and maintain editorial responsibility for content published on the Stigler Center’s blog, ProMarket.

The Senior Associate Director/Senior Editor will manage media coverage on global political economy with the focus on antitrust, regulatory capture, and subversion of competition by special interest groups. The Senior Associate Director/Senior Editor will analyze and clarify news and trending academic publications in international political economies. She/he will have the managing and editorial responsibility for content published on the Stigler Center’s blog, ProMarket. Supervise the work of the ProMarket Writer/Editor and assist and attend at all major Stigler Center events including creating and endorsing the online promotional content across all social media channel.

Responsibilities:

  • Full editorial and managing responsibility for content published on the blog.
  • Commitment to the Stigler Center’s mission of understanding the interaction between the economy and the state through research, education, and outreach; explaining the news and the academic research in a way that elucidates topics to the non-expert while still deepening the understanding of the expert.
  • Supervise work of Writer/Editor.
  • Work closely with the blog Writer/Editor, assign writing tasks, guidance, and editing of posts.
  • Prepare recurring editorial plan of all content. Tweak it during the months according to current events, news.
  • Coordinate with the editorial board on the topics to promote, the relevant Stigler-related academic papers, stories, and interviews for the blog.
  • Brainstorm and produce engaging, best in class posts and drive engagement.
  • Work across all social media channels.
  • Coordinate with the ProMarket Writer/Editor in managing the social media accounts for the center.
  • Encourage academics to write for the blog and assist them if needed in preparing their posts.
  • Work with the Stigler Center's Research Professionals to improve the graphics of the blog.
  • Provide appropriate coverage of all Stigler events, talks, working papers, and conferences.
  • Enhance and manage PR and Media relationships.
  • Coordinate themes and promote content of Capitalisn’t, the podcast of the Stigler Center.
  • Assist with the writing and editing of content related to Stigler Center’s activities (e.g., Annual Reports, Project Proposals, marketing material for events and conferences, etc.).

Temporary Part-Time Communications Manager

The Stigler Center is looking for a Temporary Part-Time Communications Manager to help promoting and disseminating the content and initiatives that are related to the Stigler Center’s mission of understanding the interaction between politics and the economy, with a specific focus on regulatory capture, crony capitalism, and the various forms of subversion of competition by special interest groups.

The Temporary Part-Time Communications Manager position is responsible for communications-related tasks in Chicago Booth’s Stigler Center She/he will be a key member of a passionate and nimble team, and will participate in developing and primarily executing the strategy for online and offline communications, social media, and website content to create visibility for and consistently articulate the Stigler Center’s mission. The Communications Manager is creative, executes on tasks, detail oriented and a self-starter. They will contribute to ensuring that the Stigler Center is viewed as a primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information on its core focus topics.

This temporary position is 20-30 hours/week and is expected to last 9-12 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Executing the marketing and communications plan across target internal and external audiences.
  • Developing and executing social media strategy.
  • Executing marketing and communications plan to promote content across platforms, including social media campaigns.
  • Strategizing on optimal ways to increase engagement.
  • Content creation in various forms.
  • Updating and managing center website.
  • Developing deep familiarity with Stigler Center content and related digital properties (ProMarket blog and Capitalisn’t podcast).
  • Writing/copy-editing content, including tweets, Facebook/LinkedIn posts, newsletters, announcements, presentations, web content, and other products related to Stigler Center’s activities (e.g., Annual Reports, Project Proposals, marketing material for events and conferences, etc.).
  • Developing and implementing metrics to assess effectiveness and impact; track and measure engagement levels within/across the platforms over time.
  • Executing strategic digital campaigns, email blasts, event promotions, etc.; manage Center email lists.
  • Covering Center events, live-tweet, engage on other social media, take notes/pictures.
  • Supporting Stigler Center programming and projects as needed.

Temporary Administrative Specialist

The Stigler Center is looking for a Temporary Administrative Specialist to provide general administrative support to Stigler programming and events, including logistics for the weekly PhD Workshop, conferences, and other regular events; the Journalists in Residence Program, by coordinating activities and assisting participants; and other tasks as needed.

This is a 20-30 hours/week hour temporary position with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. It is expected to last until the end of June.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general support for Stigler programs, including organizing events and catering; basic office duties like filing, photocopying, and scanning documents; scheduling assistance; and other duties as requested.
  • Coordinate the purchase of office supplies and other materials.
  • Create expense reports and process and track payments and travel reimbursements.
  • Organize travel arrangements.
  • Support Stigler Center programming as needed.
