Jumpstarting Your Board Service: a Pre-Conference Workshop

Join us the night before the On Board Conference for a workshop designed to help you jumpstart your On Board experience. This event is designed exclusively for Booth alumni who are actively pursuing joining a nonprofit board and nonprofit leaders who have open board seats on their boards. The evening will culminate in a networking reception where we hope connections will be made introducing potential board members to boards.

The session will feature discussions on assessing your values and board service goals, translating your skills and business acumen into qualities to bring to a board, and understanding what nonprofits expect from board members. In addition, attendees at Jumpstart will receive advance information on which nonprofits will be at On Board and the best ways to connect with them at the conference.

The session will feature discussions on assessing your current board to find gaps, resources on evaluating potential board members, and tips on a smooth board development/governance process.

The Social Enterprise Initiative (SEI) at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business supports the aspirations of students and alumni to impact societal issues and furthers research on how institutions help solve social problems.
