Robert H. Gertner has been on the Chicago Booth faculty since 1986. His research interests include strategic decision-making, corporate finance, organization structure, theory of the firm, and social enterprises.

Marianne Bertrand, Faculty Codirector

Chris P. Dialynas Distinguished Service Professor of Economics


Marianne Bertrand is the Chris P. Dialynas Professor of Economics the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She is a research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research, the Center for Economic Policy Research, and the Institute for the Study of Labor.

Adjunct Associate Professor of Strategy


Christina Hachikian is the executive director of the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She is responsible for leading the initiative’s work to serve as a destination for people tackling complex social and environmental problems, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to positively impact humanity.

Caroline Grossman, Director, Programs

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Strategy


Caroline Grossman, MBA '03, is the director of programs for the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She leads the Rustandy Center's programming efforts designed to help students, alumni, and nonprofits make an impact on complex social and environmental problems.

Erica Phillips, Senior Associate Director


Erica Phillips is the senior associate director of the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She is responsible for the events and programs related to nonprofit board service, including the On Board Conference, Alumni Board Connect, and Board Fellows. Erica also facilitates the Rustandy Center's community engagement events, including the Social Impact Leadership Series. Erica also serves on the boards of directors of her synagogue and SHALVA, Inc. and on the Leadership Council of the Posse Foundation.

Ally Batty, Associate Director, Marketing & Communications


Ally Batty is the associate director of marketing and communications at the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She leads communications and marketing efforts for the center and its portfolio of programming, highlighting the growing community of Booth students, alumni, and faculty working to address social concerns.

Cortney Robinson

Cortney Robinson, Assistant Director, Programming


Cortney Robinson is the assistant director of programming at the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She oversees the social impact career programming of the initiative and works to design relevant and innovative programs for both students and alumni.  Cortney manages the MBA Impact Investing Network Training (MIINT) program and works closely with student groups to grow and  promote the social impact community at Chicago Booth.  Cortney currently serves as a career coach for America Needs You Chicago.

Charita Callaway, Office Manager


Charita Callaway is the office manager with the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Charita performs high-level and diverse administrative duties in support of day-to-day operations. She serves as a liaison to the University community regarding matters such as finances, non-academic personnel and communications. Charita is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Lambda Alpha Omega Chapter where she acts as technology chairman.

Cortney Robinson

Salma Nassar, Associate Director, Research Initiatives


Salma Nassar is the associate director of research initiatives at the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She is responsible for growing and supporting the center's research agenda, focused on the question of how institutions solve social problems. Salma coordinates research activities and academic events for the Rustandy Center.

Cortney Robinson

Will Gossin, Senior Associate Director


Will leads the Edwardson Social Entrepreneurship Program and Social Venture Funding programming at the Rustandy Center, including the John Edwardson, ’72, Social New Venture Challenge. He advises and trains teams of students and faculty from across the university in mixed-method research, leadership, and design-thinking to maximize the social impact of their work.

Gina Potthoff

Gina Potthoff, Assistant Director, Marketing & Communications


Gina Potthoff is the assistant director of marketing and communications for the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She assists with communications and marketing efforts for the center and its portfolio of programming, in order to promote the growing work of Booth students, alumni, and faculty to address social issues and bridge the gap between them and the nonprofit and social enterprise communities.

The Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation is the destination for people committed to helping solve complex social and environmental problems. As Chicago Booth's social impact hub, we build on the school's grounding in business fundamentals with experiential learning and research-based insights. Then, through programs, including the John Edwardson, '72, Social New Venture Challenge and training for nonprofit board members, we equip our community with the knowledge and tools to positively impact humanity.
