2018 US Monetary Policy Forum

February 23, 2018 – New York City

This annual conference brings together academics, market economists, and policy makers. The conference is sponsored by the Initiative on Global Markets at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Attendance at the USMPF conference is by invitation only.


The conference will begin with this year’s report, A Skeptical View of the Impact of the Fed's Balance Sheet, written by James Hamilton (UC San Diego), Kenneth West (University of Wisconsin), David Greenlaw (Morgan Stanley), and Ethan Harris (BofA Merrill Lynch). The report will be discussed by Eric Rosengren, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, and William Dudley, Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

The conference keynote speech will be given by Paul Krugman. The conference will conclude with a panel discussion on the objectives of monetary policy that will include Olivier Blanchard, Peterson Institute for International Economics, Benoit Cœuré, European Central Bank, and Loretta Mester, Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. Esther George, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, will be moderating the panel.
