2017 - 18 Year in Review
7 Within the past few decades, the rise of international financial market integration and the importance of understanding the interactions between various political and economic institutions have posed new questions and generated greater discussion among global capital market scholars. The Initiative on Global Markets, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler School of Business hosted the 2017 Global Issues in Accounting Conference from September 22 to 23 at Chicago Booth’s Charles M. Harper Center. The purpose of the conference was to facilitate meaningful and collaborative discussions about topics in new global capital markets research. This year, a diverse group of speakers and participants from economics, finance, and accounting engaged in collaborative and in-depth discussions about current global capital research. Speakers included John Barrios (University of Chicago Booth School of Business), Aytekin Ertan (London Business School), Ole-Kristian Hope (University of Toronto Rotman School of Management), Christian Lundblad (University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler School of Business), Jean-Marie Meier (University of Texas at Dallas Jindal School of Management), James Robinson (University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy), and Laura Wellman (University of Utah Eccles School of Business). 2017 GLOBAL ISSUES IN ACCOUNTING CONFERENCE (SEPTEMBER 22–23, 2017)
