19 Nicola Gennaioli is an applied theorist who studies issues at the intersection of psychology and finance, and the economics of political and legal institutions. He has published several papers in leading economics and finance journals. He obtained a PhD in economics from Harvard University in 2004. Before joining Bocconi in 2012, he held research positions at CREI (2007–11), Stockholm University (2004–07), and a postdoc position at Harvard (2009–10). Gennaioli has also been research professor at the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics (BGSE). He is currently editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association , and associate editor of the Review of Economic Studies, Economic Journal, Review of Finance, and Journal of Development Economics . During his visit, he presented the paper, “Investor Psychology and Credit Cycles,” at the finance workshop at Booth. He also had meetings with faculty and students both at Booth and the department of economics. Martin Jacob’s research focuses on the effects of taxation on corporate investment and payout policy, tax compliance, capital gains taxation and trading decisions, tax avoidance of firms and individuals, and broader policy implications of tax rules. He is professor of business taxation at WHU–Otto Beisheim School of Management, Germany. During his visit, Professor Jacob presented his paper, “Taxation and Dividend Policy: The Muting Effect of Agency Conflicts,” at the accounting workshop. He also met with faculty at Booth and worked on joint research projects.
