The CDR is Bringing Science to the City

The Center for Decision Research is committed to engaging people from all walks of life with behavioral science. A decade ago, we partnered with Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry to conduct research with museum visitors. Since then, thousands of tourists and Chicago residents have helped us Make Science Happen at the Museum.

Building on this success, the CDR is now bringing behavioral science to more locations outside of our traditional lab spaces. This initiative to conduct “pop-up” research across Chicago includes our partnership with The Second City, as well as a partnership with the Chicago Park District. In just over two years, over 3,000 people have participated in behavioral science research in CPD locations all across the city!

We have also started bringing science to other locations, including the University of Chicago’s Harper Center and Gleacher Center, and North Avenue Beach. The CDR continues to expand our efforts to bring behavioral science out into the city. Look for us to pop up in a location near you soon!

Welcome to the Center for Decision Research

The Center for Decision Research is devoted to the study of how individuals form judgments and make decisions. Researchers at the center examine the processes by which intuition, reasoning, and social interaction produce beliefs, judgments, and choices. Understanding how and why people make decisions has important applications in a range of contexts, including management, marketing, finance, and public policy.
