PhD Program in Accounting
The accounting PhD program at Booth has a long history and is an integral part of the rich intellectual environment at the University of Chicago. Its graduates include some of the most prominent scholars in accounting such as Ray Ball, Phil Berger, Bill Beaver, Philip Brown, Joel Demski, Anthony Hopwood, Charles Horngren, Pat O'Brien, Stephen Penman, Katherine Schipper, Catherine Schrand, Ross Watts, and Greg Waymire. In addition, we have had many successful recent graduates, including Anna Costello, Joao Granja, Feng Li, Gerardo Pérez Cavazos, Eugene Soltes, Andrew Sutherland, and Regina Wittenberg-Moerman.
The program continues to produce top experts in the field and has placed recent graduates at such schools as Columbia University, Duke University, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, New York University, and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Students receive competitive funding that includes stipends, tuition waivers, and research support.
