Andrei Shleifer

Andrei Shleifer is a Professor of Economics at Harvard University, where he studies applied economic theory, corporate finance, and economic transition.

Shleifer spent one year at Princeton University before leaving to teach at The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business in 1987. He has been at Harvard University since 1990.

He is the editor of the Journal of Economic Perspectives, and has also held editorial positions at the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Journal of Finance.

Shleifer has been a Faculty Research Fellow and Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research since 1986. He is a fellow of the Econometric Society, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the European Economic Association.

Shleifer received the John Bates Clark Medal in 1999.

He received his AB in Mathematics from Harvard University in 1982, and his PhD in Economics from MIT in 1986.
