2009 U.S. Monetary Policy Forum

This annual conference brings together academics, market economists and policymakers. The conference is co-sponsored by the Initiative on Global Markets at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Brandeis University International Business School.

Program

The conference began with this year's report, "Oil and the Macroeconomy: Lessons for Monetary Policy", which was prepared by Ethan Harris (Barclays Capital), Bruce Kasman (JP Morgan Chase), Matthew Shapiro (University of Michigan) and Kenneth West (University of Wisconsin).

The report was discussed by the following Federal Reserve speakers:

This year's keynote address was by Christina D. Romer, Chair of the President's Council of Economic Advisers and was titled, "The Case for Fiscal Stimulus: The Likely Effects of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act."
