The Stigler Center’s research looks at the interaction between the economy and the state. Center faculty are especially adept at applying the insights of economic analysis in novel ways to important areas of concern to policy makers. Topics that our faculty have investigated include corporate governance, banking regulation, the politics of regulatory change, the role of the media, the war on drugs, health, as well as inequality and race.
A rotating group of faculty from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, the Department of Economics, and the Law School make up the Center’s core researchers. In addition, the Center hosts visiting scholars from other institutions. Read the Center's Annual Reports to learn about research for a particular year.
Research is presented in a working paper series. Many of the papers are available for viewing online.
A special issue of Capital Ideas, the Chicago Booth publication that features digests of major new research focused on the work of the Center.
